About the Trek
Api Base Camp lies at the altitude of 3861m from sea level. Api base camp and Kali Dhungaa trek is the Camping as well as Tea house trek in the most virgin trekking region of Far West Nepal. It is totally new trekking route which lies at Darchula district. The starting and ending point of this trek is Kathmandu. If you are looking for exotic trekking trail then, Api Himal trek would be the best one ever you had before. This region is protected by Api Nampa Conservation. Api Himal Trek offers you the beautiful scenery of nature, wildness with a huge valley of grassland. Moreover, you can also explore the mind blowing mountains are Api (7132m), Nampa (6929m) and Bobaye (6808m) and also many more unnamed snow capped mountains surrounding the valley. Api trek route is the most remote region of Nepal which is laggging far behind the development.

Kali Dhungaa is the glacial lake. It lies at the altitude of 4100m from Sea level. It is a religious lake where local is used to worship Lord Shiva. It will take around 4 hours to reach this glacial lake from Api Base Camp. This trek will be very hard for you because you have to cross 6 up hill to reach at the lake. On the trek, you have to trek along the Chamelia river. This Kali Dhungaa is the source of the Chamelia river.
Flora and Fauna
Various and Numerious type of flora and fauna are found in this region. You can see most endangered wildlife like snow leopard in this region if you are lucky. Moreover, the national bird of Nepal called Danfe is also found in this region. Musk deer is also famous wildlife is this region. Likewise, you can also explore various type of Himalayan Rhododendron in this region. Even more, this trekking route is also abundant with different types of wild mushroom. Furthermore, this region is very famous for different kinds of herbs and shrubs. Yarsha Gumba is the valuable herb found in this region which is very important in medicinal point of view. Not only that, Paanch Auche is also valuable herb. The main income of the local people of Darchula district is extraction and selling of these herbs.

Api Base Camp and Kali Dhungaa Trek is the combination of Tea house and Camping Trek. This trekking trail is newly explored trail so, accomodation facilities is not properly developed as developed in other trekking region. You can get any hotels as your wish in Kathmandu and Attariya. But, in trekking route there is no second option for fooding and lodging. You can get tea house accomodation in all spots expects one place that is Dhauli Odaar. This trek offers you a amazing camping experience in Dhauli Odaar. You have to spend two night at Dhauli Odaar. Moreover, there is no shops on the trail so, you have to carry all required things. You have to carry water bottle along the whole trek. There is no water resource in between Paribagar to Ghusa during your second day trek. Due to which, you have to carry water with you for the whole day.
