Six Must Do Things in Upper Mustang

One of the wise men said, “If you cannot make it to Grand Canyon, then go to Upper Mustang, Lo
Manthang.” Lo Manthang famously known as the “Last Forbidden Kingdom” is a part of the Mustang district
which connects hills with the Tibetan Plateau. It is the blend of the aridest landscape on earth with one of
the oldest civilizations. This place won’t fail to amaze you with its always smiling people, magnificent
landscapes, Himalayan vegetation, gompas, and a blend of Tibetan Buddhist culture. Due to its wide range
of attractions, Lo Manthang is famous among tourists.

We have listed the six things you must do while at Lo Manthang.

    1. Korala border, located at an elevation of 4660 meters above sea level is the border
between Nepal and China and it is the lowest derivable path between the Himalayas and the
      Tibetan Plateau
    2. Lomanthang Durbar: The major attraction of this forbidden kingdom is this grand palace, built-in
15 the century; this structure has nine corners and is five stores tall. There are four
      gumbas(Gompas) adjacent to this palace.
    3. Caves of Chooser: The caves of Chhoser can be reached via an hour of 4 wd jeep ride from
Lomanthang. An estimated 10,000 human-made caves have been discovered in this area and
those caves are believed to be 2500 years old. But the mystery surrounding who built it and why
they built it makes this place even more interesting.
    4. Tibetan culture, traditions, and people: One of the major attractions of the upper mustang is the
blend of Tibetan culture and traditions. You can observe various dances, cultural shows, and arts
of Tibetan Buddhism. Lomanthang is the best place to explore the Tibetan Buddhist culture
      along with its music.
    5. Himalayan vegetation: Despite being one of the aridest places on earth, you will be amazed
by the way people have utilized water resources to produce various crops for their livelihood.
    6. Tatopani(Hot water spring): After a long and tiring exploration of the Lo Manthang valley, there
is no better way to wrap up your day with a bath at the nearby hot water spring. It is located just
