    Langtang Gosaikunda Trek

    Gosaikunda Trek is like no other trekking. This trek is the enthralling journey to remote yet alluring villages and equally gorgeous Langtang National Park. Gosaikunda Trek follows the Trishuli River in the north, taking you to Trishuli Bazaar, Dhunche, and to Syabrubesi.     Gosaikunda Trek

    The trekking in this paradise renders the fascinating view of mountains along with Langur Monkey and other wild animals. But the view of this magnificent beauty doesn’t come easy as the trekking trail includes long and steep descents. This trekking area has less concentration of human settlement, thus giving you that much-needed escape from your daily life. The exquisite view of Mt. Langtang Lirung (7246m), Gang Chhenpo (6388m), Naya Kangri (5846m), and Dorje Lakpa (6966m) is not something you wake up to every day. The region is rich artificially as the finest craftsmanship, traditional yet alluring stone houses and appealing wooden carve is a common sight in the region.

    Flora and Fauna

    The area is affluent with a whopping 1000 species of flora and fauna. The exotic animals like Tiger, Wild Boar, Red Panda, Pica, Musk Deer, Himalayan Thar, Rhesus Monkey, Langur, Snow Leopard, Hawks, Hoopoe, Cuckoos, Barbets, Owls, Nightjars, Laughing Thrushes, Black Capped Sibias, Red- Billed and parakeets are there to offer your camera the best wildlife shot of yours. Moreover, 250 species of birds will dance for you by singing their song in that soulful voice.

    Gosaikunda Lake

    Gosaikunda (4380m) is a freshwater lake that lies in Nepal’s Langtang National Park. The lake melts down to the Trishuli River and it remains frozen for six months from October to June. Most noteworthy, this lake water is holy and has greater significance during the Janai Poornima and Gangadashahara Hindu festival of Nepal.

    1. Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu

      You will be warmly welcomed in Kathmandu Airport by our team. Then, you will transfer to the hotel where our guide do briefing about the trek which should be listened properly by you.

    2. Day 2 Drive from Kathmandu to Dhunche

      In the early morning after having satisfying breakfast, we will head to Dhunche. It is about 5-6 hours drive from  Kathmandu to Dhunche via Trisuli Bazaar by private transport (4WD is necessary because of the rocky un-asphalted road).

    3. Day 3 Trek to Sing Gompa from Dhunche

      Today we start our trek after having satisfying breakfast at hotel from Dhunche. We trek up the steep hill above the village to Dursagang. The trail continues with pristine forest of hemlock and oak to the top of the ridge at Foprang Danda, where we will have lunch. The trail to Sing Gompa cuts across the ridge top, staying fairly level as it crosses the head of the valley. After passing the final ridge, we will arrive at Sing Gompa.

      Trek Duration: 5-6 hours

    4. Day 4 Sing Gompa to Gosaikunda

      Today we have to climb steeply up the ridge where there is moist forests on the northern slopes and dry scrub vegetation on the southern slopes. The northern slope is a sanctuary for the red panda which is enlisted as an endangered species. Chalang Pati is the place from where we enter the Goisakunda protected area where the killing of animals, lighting of wood fires and grazing of goats is prohibited. We have to  climb up along the ridge untill we see the Gosaikunda Lake. Goisakunda lake has a black rock in the middle, said to be the head of Shiva. According to the legend, Shiva created the lake when he pierced a glacier with his trident to obtain water to quench his thirst after consuming poison. Hundreds of pilgrims come here to worship and bath during the full-moon festival each August.

    5. Day 5 Gosaikunda to Gopte via Lauribinayakk

       We continue our trek descending over a rocky trail along with the three more small lakes towards Laurebina La pass. After crossing that pass, the trail desends alongside a stream through the alpine forest to the national park check post. We do our lunch at Phedi and from Phedi the route drops to a stream and then climbs through scrub bamboo to a crest. From here we climb in and out ravines across the head of the valley to Gopte.

      Trek Duration: 6-7 hours

    6. Day 6 Gopta to Tharepati

      Today we continue our trek up ravines and across the boulders of old moraines below the wreckage of a Thai Airlines plane that crashed here in bad weather in 1992. Make a final ascent to Tharepati on the ridge from where we can see the Helambu region. We will arrive around noon and rest of the day we can just relax.

    7. Day 7 Tharepati to Gul Bhanjyang

      In the early morning after having satisfying, we walk through the alpine country side with meadows and scrubs typical for high elevation. We will enter the forest again and follow the ridges before descending to Magen Goth. The trail gently climbs to a small pass at Mere Danda before descending through rhododendron forest. The trail continues further down to Kutumsang from where we continue to the nearby Gul Bhanjyang, which is a delightful classic hill village.

    8. Day8 Gul Bhanjyang to Chisopani

      Today we have to descend down a forested ridge to the long, strung-out village of Thodang Betini.  From here we climb up around 200 meters to the top of the Jhogin Danda ridge and descend over a stone staircase to the teashops at Chipling. Continuing our trek down past Brahman and Chhetri villages through meadows and fields then, we finally reach Chisopani.

    9. Day 9 Chisopani to Kathmandu

      We start the day by climbing up the last pass of the trek at Borlang Bhanjyang. From here we descend steeply through deeply eroded chasms towards the Tamang settlement of Mulkharka. From here on it is a short bit to Sundarjial as we walk past the local water supply system. From Sundarijal we have our private vehicle waiting for us to bring us back to Kathmandu. Today evening, we organize Nepalese cultural dinner. Overnight stay at hotel in Kathmandu.

    10. Day 10 Departure from Kathmandu

      Our driver takes you to the airport in time for your flight back home. We ensure that you leave Kathmandu with lifetime experience and cherishing memory.
